BSCI certification requirements

First, the management responsibility:
1. Notify Managers and Suppliers of the contents of the BSCI Code of Conduct.
2. Establish a responsibility mechanism within the company organization to deal with all issues related to the BSCI Code of Conduct.
3. Appoint one or more managers to implement the BSCI Code of Conduct.
4. Monitor the company's compliance with the BSCI Code of Conduct and implement the necessary changes in the company's premises.
Second, staff awareness:
1. Affirm to employees the principles of their support of the BSCI Code of Conduct and explain and teach to their employees and their subcontractor employees about the BSCI Code of Conduct. The company must fully translate the BSCI Code of Conduct into the appropriate local language and place it prominently on the factory and other premises. The employee must be verbally presented with the BSCI Code of Conduct and the information given in a language that is understandable to the employee.
2. Regularly educate employees on workplace safety and make them aware of the human and environmental impact of their activities.
Third, keep the record:
1. Retain the names, ages, working hours and wages of all employees and make these records readily available upon request of the BSCI Auditor.
2. Record all dangerous goods and potentially hazardous locations.
3. Monitor and maintain safety equipment and appliances.
4. Keep updating the documentation of the relevant statutory requirements and regulations.
Fourth, complaints and corrective measures:
1. Assign an employee to handle complaints about BSCI issues.
2. Record and investigate complaints from employees or third parties about BSCI issues and report the complaints and any necessary corrective actions taken against them.
3. Have the resources ready to take the necessary corrective actions.
4. Avoid dismissal or other disciplinary action against employees who comment on the BSCI Code of Conduct.
Fifth, suppliers and subcontractors:
1. Set standards for social responsibility and BSCI compliance as a condition of all contracts with suppliers.
2. Require suppliers to regularly report on their progress in implementing the BSCI Code of Conduct.

4. Provide BSCI members with information on their activities and production sites.
5. Organizations representing BSCI members are allowed to review their and their subcontractors' premises at any time, with or without advance notice.
Consequences of non-compliance: If the supplier fails to meet the requirements of the BSCI Code of Conduct, and if the solution is not agreed and implemented in sufficient time, BSCI members may choose to discontinue the current production and cancel the corresponding Contract to temporarily cancel future contracts and / or terminate the business relationship with the supplier. If the review shows that the supplier is not fully compliant with the BSCI Code of Conduct, the supplier must take the specified corrective action immediately. The supplier will agree with the auditors on the time frame for implementing corrective actions, but not exceeding 12 months. If a supplier previously excluded as nonconforming subsequently shows that it can fully comply with the BSCI Code of Conduct, it is in principle possible to resume the previous commercial relationship.

Benefits of BSCI Corporate Social Compliance Review
The BSCI, launched at the end of 2004, is a review process across retailers, importers and brand manufacturers, and BSCI provides services such as the International Labor Organization (ILO) and a single Implementation procedures and other internationally recognized labor standards as the basis of a common code of conduct. The purpose of this review is to continually improve the supplier's social performance by meeting SA8000 or equivalent certification best practices to continually improve the factory's working conditions.
